Please note that use of the Church Hall is restricted under the terms of both the VAT exemption granted on the building and the relief given from business rates. For these reasons all use will be at the discretion of the PCC (Parochial Church Council). The PCC will not be bound by previous use enjoyed by any group or individual. Agreement to a regular booking will be subject to future requirements for use by the church. Wherever possible the PCC will give adequate notice of alteration to a regular booking made, but you should be aware that the PCC reserve the right to alter any booking made.
All users will be assumed to have read and agreed to the conditions of use below. Failure to comply with any of these conditions will lead to future booking requests being denied. In the case of a regular booking, this will be terminated immediately should the user, or a member of the group, act in any way contrary to the conditions of use.
Users are reminded that they are responsible for accident or injury arising out of the activity for which they have booked the premises. It is the responsibility of the user to ensure that the premises are safe for the purposes for which they intend to use them.
Conditions of use of Bury Church Hall
There shall be no sale of alcohol on the premises.
There shall be no smoking on the premises.
Activities for young people shall be properly supervised by responsible adults and in accordance with any statutory regulations pertaining to such groups. Supervision shall extend to the curtilage of the Church property.
The user agrees to pay for all loss or damage to the building and contents arising from their use and to indemnify the Parochial Church Council (PCC) against any claim or liability. (It is in the interest of those using the hall to be adequately insured).
The hall must be left in a clean and tidy condition. A charge may be made for cleaning if, in the opinion of the PCC, the user has not fulfilled this condition.
Arrangements should be made with the booking secretary for collection of the key on the day of use, for which a £5 deposit will be required. All doors and windows must be locked at the end of each use. Keys must be returned to the booking secretary immediately after use. In the case of a regular (e.g. weekly) booking, a key, or set of keys, may be allocated to a named individual who will be responsible for their return on the termination of the regular booking. No copy of any key may be taken and any loss of keys should be reported to the booking secretary immediately. A charge will be made for the cost of replacement key(s).
Users are required to complete details of any accident or incident occurring during their occupation of the premises which did, or could, give rise to injury or illness, as soon as possible after the accident or incident, but in any case before the premises are vacated after the event. A book for this purpose is located in the kitchen.
The following information should be recorded:-
Name, address and telephone number of person(s) injured.
Exact time and place of the occurrence:
Detailed description of the accident or incident, including a description of any apparatus or equipment involved.
Name, address and telephone number of any witness(es) to the incident
Signed witness statements should be obtained if possible.
The user must notify the Booking Secretary as soon as possible after the incident, but in any event, within 24 hours. Any apparatus or equipment involved must be retained for inspection.
The church hall car park is adjacent to a residential area and users shall have due regard to appropriate behaviour and noise levels both within the premises and, in particular, when undertaking any activities outside the hall. Noise from vehicles should be kept to a minimum when arriving and leaving the car park. A speed limit of 5mph should be operated in the car park.
Please note that the church hall has been provided primarily for use in connection with the church and its related activities and has been funded entirely by the donations of church members. The PCC does not therefore have a policy of hiring out the hall. Use is at the discretion of the PCC on a no charge basis. However a donation to cover cleaning and other expenses would be welcomed and we suggest a sum of £15 per hour that you have use of the hall.
